Those of you who are familiar with my family and my home know that we live in a very small house. My husband, son, our two dogs and I are crammed in to less than 1000 sq. ft. of space. We are fortunate enough to have a "spare" room right now but unfortunately it becomes the inevitable catch-all for everything that we have. Recently while attempting to clean it out, I had an epiphany. What was this epiphany you might ask? Well, as I was sorting, I realized that I had a lot of hobby type crap stuff. Over the years I've collected items for sewing, knitting, card making/paper crafts, cake decorating, felting, and so on... Each time I became invested in a new hobby it didn't take me long to lose interest. This got me thinking - obviously I need and want a creative outlet but what am I actually passionate about? And this is when it hit me - I LOVE photography. It has always, I mean always been important to me. I grew up with a camera strap around my neck. When I was a teenager I didn't spend my extra money on clothes and make-up. I spent it on film (yes, film - remember that?). I would save my Christmas and birthday money to buy new cameras and I have albums and albums of pictures from my teenage/college years. I've actually owned a DSLR for several years but never really learned to fully use it. So this is where the epiphany happened. Why haven't I been spending my time and money on something I love? Rather than a jack of all trades, perhaps I can be a master of one?
This is where this new journey begins. Although my photography is something that is pretty personal to me (it's definitely not just about pushing a button on a camera), I've decided to put myself "out there". This blog is my way of sharing my progress with anyone who cares.
With that being said and with my Canon 60d in hand, I plan to take a lot of pictures in the next several months!
